The DICK’S Sporting Goods PONY League World Series launches new-look website for increased international appeal
WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 24) - World Series Tournaments, Inc. (WSTI) is proud to announce the unveiling of a brand new, state-of-the-art website. Powered by DICK’S Sporting Goods’ partner Blue Sombrero, the site has a multitude of new features for fans of the World Series, both young and old.
Participating World Series teams can use the site as an information hub in advance of the 2016 DICK’S Sporting Goods PONY League World Series (DSGPLWS). The newest website feature is a translate function in the top, right hand corner of the Home page. This translate function will allow viewers of the site to translate plws.org into 103 different languages, as they so choose. The DSGPLWS annually host teams from all over the world, after they qualify from PONY’s Europe, Mexico, Caribbean and Asia-Pacific Zones.
In 2015, plws.org witnessed record web traffic from international viewers, thanks mainly to WSTI’s partnership with Pikewood Sports and MLB.com to stream the DSGPLWS online. Namely, fans from Austria, Taiwan, Puerto Rico and Mexico visited plws.org most often because participating teams from those nations were represented, but fans from as far as Australia, Greece, the Bahamas, Brazil and China all tuned in to the DSGPLWS.
On plws.org, fans can learn more about the event’s past, present and future and purchase tickets through our online ticketing partner ShowClix. Also, there are menus for any and all parties interested in corporate sponsorship or booster club opportunities. A DSGPLWS spirit shop is also coming soon thanks to DICK’S Sporting Goods, so fans can purchase attire online, along with at Lew Hays PONY Field during the tournament.
Brand new to the new plws.org is the “History” tab, in which followers can look up scores of every PONY League World Series game. They can also check on the current World Series records, view the list of all-time champions, and visit the PLWS Museum, with memorabilia dating back to the 1950s. Under the “Year-by-Year Archives” tab, viewers can find game stories, stats, photos and full game broadcast links to games dating back as far as 2010. While the “Watch Live” page will be utilized for the 2016 DSGPLWS stream through MLB.com, it currently has every link to every game played at last year’s tournament.
Make sure to follow all the announcements from WSTI on plws.org in anticipation of the 2016 DSGPLWS, which is scheduled for Aug. 5-10 at historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, Pa. Also, Like PONY World Series on Facebook and Follow @plws2016 on Twitter. We will also have exciting news to announce later this summer in regards to expansion of our social media.
