A weather-altered Game 10 of the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series ended dramatically as West Covina, California earned a 5-3 walk-off victory over Hidalgo, Texas.

Originally scheduled for seven innings, the matchup between the West Zone and South Zone champions began several hours later than scheduled following earlier rain delays. With daylight and additional weather concerns affecting the remainder of the schedule, the game was shortened to five innings.

West Covina wasted little time taking advantage of the shortened contest, jumping ahead in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Chavez launched a two-run home run to left field to give the West Zone champions an early 2-0 lead.

The lead grew an inning later when Corzantes connected on an 0-2 pitch and sent a solo home run over the left-field fence, extending West Covina’s advantage to 3-0.

With the fifth inning serving as the final scheduled frame, Hidalgo mounted a comeback.

Josiah Ruiz started the rally with a solo home run to left field on an 0-2 count, cutting West Covina’s lead to 3-1. Hidalgo continued to battle and eventually erased the remainder of the deficit, tying the game at 3-3 and forcing West Covina to answer in the bottom half.

           West Covina did exactly that.

With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth, Corzantes delivered again, driving in the final two runs to complete the 5-3 walk-off victory. He finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs out of the eighth spot in the West Covina lineup, accounting for three of his team’s five runs.

Aaron Morales provided a complete-game effort on the mound for West Covina, working all five innings while allowing three runs on five hits. He struck out eight and walked just one.

Robert Lozano started for Hidalgo and pitched 1⅔ innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits. He struck out one without issuing a walk.

Ruiz led Hidalgo with three RBIs, while Diego Puente, Oziel Garcia, Ruiz, Lozano and Adrian Delgado each recorded a hit.

West Covina also played error-free defense, with Jeremy Jimenez recording a team-high 10 defensive chances.

After waiting through weather delays just to take the field, West Covina built an early three-run advantage, watched Hidalgo erase it in the final scheduled inning and then responded with the decisive swing. Corzantes’ two-run walk-off capped the 5-3 victory and sent the West Zone champions forward in the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series.

With the win today, West Covina will advance to Game 14 on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 12:30 PM ET, where they will take on the loser of Game 12. Hidalgo, Texas saw its 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series run come to an end today, finishing the tournament with a 1-2 record.

WASHINGTON, PA (August 10, 2026) - More than six hours after the first pitch, Navojoa, Mexico completed a dramatic comeback against Paderborn, Germany, earning a 6-5 walk-off victory in Game 9 of the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series.

The matchup between the Mexico Zone and European Zone champions began at 10 a.m. before rain suspended play in the third inning. After a lengthy delay, the teams returned to the field at 4:30 p.m., with Paderborn holding an early advantage.

Paderborn built its lead with a five-run second inning. Keylen Ruiz drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home the first run before a fielder’s choice off the bat of Tizian Sulilatu allowed two more runs to score. Felix Blesing followed with another bases-loaded walk, and a passed ball extended the German lead to 5-0.

That advantage held until Navojoa came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with just three outs remaining.

The Mexico Zone champions mounted their comeback with five runs on two hits, erasing the deficit and tying the game at 5-5. Iker Leyva delivered a key RBI single during the rally as Navojoa took advantage of its final opportunity at the plate.

With the score tied later in the inning, Santiago Almada completed the comeback with a walk-off RBI single, bringing home the winning run and giving Navojoa a 6-5 victory.

Almada led Navojoa offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI. Navojoa also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, including two each from Jesus Valenzuela and Humberto Borquez.

Borquez provided one of the game’s standout performances on the mound in the top of the seventh, throwing an immaculate inning. He struck out all three Paderborn batters he faced on nine pitches, setting the stage for Navojoa’s comeback in the bottom half.

Robin Meermeyer started for Paderborn and worked 2⅓ scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out three and walking one. Mauricio Araiza started for Navojoa, allowing five runs, four earned, on two hits over 1⅔ innings. He struck out two and walked four.

Ben Nussbaum, Ruiz and Joschua Butt each recorded a hit for Paderborn, while Sulilatu and Blesing each drove in a run. Paderborn committed no errors defensively and turned one double play.

After falling behind 5-0 and enduring a rain delay that stretched the game across much of the day, Navojoa saved its offense for when it mattered most. Five runs in the seventh erased Paderborn’s lead before Almada delivered the final swing of the comeback, sending the Mexico Zone champions to a 6-5 walk-off win.

Following Mexico’s victory today, they will advance to Game 13 on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 10 AM ET, where they will take on the loser of Game 11. Paderborn, Germany saw its 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series run come to an end today, finishing the tournament with a 1-2 record.

WASHINGTON, PA (August 5, 2026) — West Covina, CA, has won PONY Baseball's West Zone to qualify for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. West Covina returns to the international stage for the first time in over two decades, marking its eighth all-time appearance and first since a runner-up finish in 2000.

A program rich in tradition, West Covina brings a storied history into the tournament, highlighted by three PLWS championships (1974, 1981, 1982), along with runner-up finishes in 1960 and 2000 and a Final Four appearance in 1961. The team holds an impressive 22–10 all-time record in World Series play.

West Covina’s path back to the PLWS was anything but easy. After dropping its opening game of the West Zone Tournament to Mission Bay, CA (6–3), the team responded with resilience, battling through the double-elimination bracket with five consecutive victories to claim the championship. The run included wins over San Francisco, CA (12–0), Covina, CA (17–2), and back-to-back victories over Mission Bay, CA (6–5, 6–4) before securing the title with a 9–7 win over West Hills, CA in the championship.

“That first game was a wake-up call,” said Coach Brian Partida. “It showed us that nothing is going to be handed to us. From that point on, the message was simple—play and coach like it’s your last game.”

That mindset has become a defining trait of this year’s team. Built on toughness and the ability to respond to adversity, West Covina has leaned on its resilience throughout the postseason. “Our strength is our resilience,” Partida added. “We’ve stayed committed to what got us here while continuing to look for ways to improve each day.”

As the team prepares for its return to Washington, Pennsylvania, the focus remains steady and grounded. “We want the players to have fun and play team baseball,” the staff said. “If we do that, everything else will take care of itself.”

With a championship history and a battle-tested roster, West Covina enters the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series ready to add another chapter to its historic program. West Covina will open tournament play against the East Zone champions, Hagerstown, MD, on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 12:00 PM/ET at Historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, PA.

WASHINGTON, PA (July 28, 2026) — Hidalgo, TX, has won PONY Baseball’s South Zone to qualify for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. This year’s Texan squad will mark the first time a team from Hidalgo has qualified.

Hidalgo arrives with a team defined not just by talent, but by its strong bond off the field. Built on years of playing together, this group has developed a unique chemistry. “Our biggest strength is the connection these players have with one another,” said Head Coach Miguel Puente. “They’ve grown up together and truly play like a family. That trust and support carries over every time they take the field.”

Hidalgo earned its South Zone title in dominant fashion, opening the tournament with two wins in pool play, including a 21–0 victory over Rayne, LA, and a 15–0 shutout of Lake Arthur, LA. In bracket play, Hidalgo beat the Renegades 6–0, followed by a 4–0 triumph over NASA Houston Orange in the semifinals. In the championship game, Hidalgo secured the title with an 8–4 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Broncos. The team outscored opponents 54–4 overall, including four consecutive shutouts to begin the tournament.

As the team prepares for its World Series debut, the focus has been on sharpening fundamentals while embracing the moment. “The excitement is definitely there, but the players are focused,” Puente added. “At this point, it’s about tightening the details, trusting each other, and playing the game the right way.”

While the opportunity to compete is a major goal, the experience itself carries even greater meaning for the Hidalgo community. As the first team from the city to reach this stage, the group understands the significance of representing something bigger than themselves. The state of Texas brings a rich history into the tournament as well, with five all-time PONY League World Series championships—second-most of any U.S. state—including the inaugural title in 1952. “This is a special moment for our players and our city,” Puente said. “It’s about showing what’s possible for the kids back home and representing our community with pride.”

Hidalgo will open tournament play against the European Zone champions, Paderborn, Germany, on August 7 at 4:30 PM/ET at Historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, PA.

South Hills secured its spot by repeating as Host Area Zone champions, turning in an impressive undefeated performance throughout the tournament. The run included decisive victories over Mt. Lebanon, PA (15-3) and Western PA PONY (10-0, 4-1), before closing it out with a 5-0 championship win against Johnstown, PA.

“Our mindset is simple — we’re here to win it all,” said Head Coach Joe Cuervo. “After going through it last year, we feel more experienced and more complete this time around. With returning players and improved depth, this group has a stronger overall balance.”

The team has prioritized consistent reps and challenging matchups to simulate the intensity they’ll face in World Series play. “We want our guys comfortable in those moments,” Cuervo added. “Seeing better pitching and stronger teams leading up to this helps build that confidence.”

While expectations remain high, the experience itself is just as meaningful. South Hills embraces the opportunity to compete on an international stage while creating lasting memories along the way. “This is bigger than just baseball,” Cuervo said. “We want these players to enjoy it, represent their community the right way, and be part of something they’ll remember forever.”

South Hills will open play against Navajoa, Mexico, at 2:30PM/ET on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Historic Lew Hays PONY Field as they look to build on their strong summer and make a deep run in the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series.

Bay County enters the tournament as a familiar face in Washington, PA, as the Michigan program now makes their 14th consecutive appearance and 19th overall appearance. “The World Series means a great deal to our program,” said head coach Craig Revette. “It’s something our community rallies around, and it’s created lifelong memories for so many players and families over the years. We never take that opportunity for granted.”

           — Washington County, PA, will serve as the host team for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. After two runner-up finishes in the past three years, the team enters the tournament with high expectations.

“The expectation every year since I have been here is to win the championship,” said Washington County head coach, JP Przybylinski. ”Washington County hasn’t won it in quite some time and these kids are hungry to change that.”

Following an exciting run in last year’s tournament where they finished runner-up to Taichung, Chinese Taipei, this year’s team is hoping to use that momentum to catapult them over the championship hump that has haunted them since 1955. “The team last year was super special, and the team this year looks up to those guys,” Przybylinski said. “We have players from years past share their experience with the current team every year. The message is the same, the goal is the same, the players who are ready to get it done are the only thing that changes. We will learn from every experience past teams can offer, both as players and as coaches.”

With a roster full of talent from the region, Washington County is eager to represent its community on the international stage. “All of the players on this year’s team are extremely talented athletes and phenomenal baseball players,” Przybylinski stated. The talent level in Southwestern Pennsylvania and Washington County is well represented, and I look forward to taking each and every one of them into battle. Every player on this team has earned and deserves to represent this county proudly.”

Washington County’s roster consists of three players from Trinity, one from McGuffey, two from Charleroi, one from Burgettstown, one from Chartiers-Houston, six from Canon-Mac, and one from Seton LaSalle. The team is comprised of players from the Founder’s League, a 20-team recreational baseball league that includes every school district in Washington County with the exception of Peter’s Township.

WASHINGTON, PA (July 16, 2026) — Paderborn, Germany, has won PONY Baseball’s European Zone to qualify for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. This year’s squad will be making its fifth all-time appearance in the PLWS, continuing the German Baseball Academy’s record as the European program with the most 14U World Series appearances.

Paderborn was dominant throughout tournament play, going undefeated in the European Zone Tournament and winning seven consecutive games. Along the way, they earned victories over Estonia (15–0), Netherlands Stars (13–2), Netherlands Elite (20–0), Netherlands Academy (10–0), Fermin Baseball Academy (12–0), and Czech Academy (17–2). In the final, Paderborn secured the championship with a 15–5 (5 inn.) win over the Czech U15 National Team, outscoring opponents 102–9 overall.

After an impressive showing throughout the tournament, it comes as no surprise that Paderborn points to its mindset and team approach as a key strength. “One of the team’s strengths is our mental makeup,” said manager Heiko Schumacher. “We will not give up until the last out is made. We play by our ‘Shieldwall’ philosophy where everybody plays his individual role in the bigger context of the team.”

Paderborn will look to make a strong impression in the 2026 tournament against top international competition. “We expect a tough tournament and know we must be ready from the start, as the format does not allow mistakes.”

WASHINGTON, PA (July 16, 2026) — Navajoa, Mexico, has won PONY Baseball’s Mexico Zone to qualify for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. The 2026 squad will be making history as it is Navojoa’s first-ever appearance in the tournament.

The Navojoa team has certainly been battle-tested throughout tournament play, going undefeated in the Mexico Zone Tournament against some previous PLWS qualifiers. In pool play, Navojoa defeated Unison 8–2, Mandarina 8–1, Ríos 10–8, and Tamaulipeca 6–5. In the playoff quarterfinal, Navojoa defeated Guasave 2–1. In the semifinals, Navojoa defeated Mochis 6–4. In the final, Navojoa secured the championship with a 2–1 victory over Tijuana.

After a strong showing throughout the tournament, it comes as no surprise that Navojoa believes its greatest strength is its balance. “Our biggest strength is that we are a united group that has been playing together since the 3–4 age division,” said Enrique Hinojsa, the team’s business manager. “We also have outstanding pitching, and we never depend on just one player.”

Traveling approximately 2,430 miles to Washington, PA, Navojoa is looking forward to competing on baseball’s international stage and excited for the opportunity to experience the tradition of the PONY League World Series. “The boys are excited and full of hope because this is a tournament with a lot of tradition,” Hinojosa said. We have heard that it is an incredible venue where baseball is truly in the air. They want to go and live that dream.”

Navojoa will look to make a strong impression in its first appearance at the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. Their opening game will be against the Host-Area Champion at 2:30 PM/ET on Saturday, August 8, at Historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, PA.

“We play smart, situational baseball and support each other through every inning,” said Ortiz. “Our team’s greatest strength lies in our baseball IQ and mental toughness. That unity and ability to bounce back makes us stronger every game.”

The Corpus Christi’s preparation is built on consistency and a commitment to fundamentals.

Ortiz emphasized, “We’re sticking to what’s brought us success all season, focusing on fundamentals, sharpening our skills, and working to improve every day. Our practices are intentional and game-like, allowing us to fine-tune our execution while maintaining the high standards we’ve set for ourselves since day one.”

Now, Corpus Christi is focused on one thing - the World Series.

“We expect to compete,” Ortiz continued. “This tournament brings together some of the best teams in the world, and we’re excited to be among them. We know we’ll be in tight games against great opponents, and we’re ready for that level of intensity. Above all, we expect to play the game the right way, with respect, hustle, and heart.”

The heart of this team, however, goes far beyond the box scores.

Simi Valley, CA, has won PONY Baseball and Softball’s West Zone to qualify for the 2025 Printscape PONY League World Series. This marks the third time a team from Simi Valley will make the trip to Washington.

In the West Zone tournament, played in West Covina, CA, Simi Valley opened with a commanding 22-2 victory over Rodeo, CA, followed by a narrow 2-1 win over Hilo, HI. Simi then beat Rodeo again 8-3, followed by a 6-0 shutout over West Covina, CA, to win the zone.

Led by Head Coach Josh Carter, the Simi Valley team boasts more than just talent, they carry years of experience, unity, and resilience.

“One of the greatest strengths of our team is the chemistry and trust that has been built over years of playing together,” said Carter. “The majority of these boys have been teammates at Simi Youth Baseball since they were five and six years old, growing up on the field together and forming a deep bond that shows in how well they communicate and play as a unit.”

Preparation has been key to their success. With a grueling practice schedule and a determination to face the toughest competition available, the team has pushed themselves in every aspect of the game.

“Their schedule has been relentless,” said Carter. “We’ve had two to three practices every week focused on sharpening skills, building chemistry, and preparing for the high-pressure moments that come with elite competition.”
