Printscape PONY League World Series - Fun for the Entire Family Promotions Schedule Announced

WASHINGTON, PA – The world comes to Washington, Pennsylvania Aug. 9-14 for the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series. World Series Tournaments, Inc. today announced the event schedule including the annual skills competition, on-field special events and the complete tournament schedule culminating in the championship game, Wednesday, Aug. 14.

All games will be played at historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington Park, the world’s first-ever PONY Baseball field. Because construction at Lew Hays, spanning 1951-1952, was not completed in time, the first PONY League World Series was played at Wash High Stadium’s baseball field. With this year’s tournament, 60 of the 61 PLWS events in Washington, PA, will have been held at Lew Hays PONY Field, which also played host to two Bronco World Series (12U) events in the mid-1970s.

12:15 pm Washington area Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs host the WS teams for lunch at the Kiwanis Pavilion, just above Lew Hays PONY Field

7:00 pm Opening Ceremonies featuring all teams
7:30 pm Game 2 West Zone vs. Guaynabo, Puerto Rico

Saturday, Aug. 10 – Mascot Night
9:30 am PONY Champions League Game, presented by Chapman Corporation Area special needs players with WS players/coaches’ encouragement

Sunday, Aug. 11 – Military & First Responders Appreciation Night,
9:00 am Breakfast of Champions, annually a sold-out event at DoubleTree-Meadowlands, is sponsored by Walmart, Sam’s Club, the City of Washington and Giant Eagle.
The highlight of the event is a brief presentation by the World Series managers about their teams’ journeys to the World Series.

The 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series Championship Game will feature the two division winners in a single final game. The winner will claim PONY Baseball’s 72nd championship. Pregame ceremonies include recognition of the PONY Princess, announcement of the PONY Hostess, and introduction of the starting lineups.

SportsNet Pittsburgh and WJPA-AM Radio will broadcast the title game live. Lanny Frattare, Ernie Galusky and Joe Barcato anchor the television broadcast with Mark Uriah and Randy Gore providing the radio coverage right through the presentation of the Roy Gillespie Memorial Championship Trophy.

World Series Tournaments, Inc., a 501C3 nonprofit organization in Washington, Pa., is the host organization for the Printscape PONY League World Series. This all-volunteer organization is responsible for the funding and staffing requirements of the event, along with all other related operational activities.
