Game 1 : Mon Valley, PA 2, Palmview, TX 6

WASHINGTON, PA - The opening game of the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series belongs to Palmview, Texas, over Mon Valley, Pennsylvania, by a score of 6-2.

Palmview threatened with runners on second and third and one out in the second, but a laser thrown to the plate by Mon Valley’s third baseman Jack Crovak to catch the runner breaking home followed by a swinging strikeout ended the top of the frame.

Mon Valley put the game's first run on the board after a Braylon Schoch double sent home Kennedy Nash to make it 1-0 in the bottom of the second.

Palmview wasted no time responding with an Edgar Quintanilla leadoff double to start the top of the third. Later in the inning, Javier Garza singled Quintanilla home to knot the game at 1-1.

Johnstown tacked on another in the bottom of the fourth after Crovak stole home on a double steal. Another run was threatened but Palmview turned a 1-3-2 double play. After four, the score stood at 2-1.

Palmview took its first lead of the game in the top of the 5th after an Alejandro Leon RBI double followed by an error that sent Leon home. 

In the top of the 7th, Leon hit his second RBI double of the game to tack on an insurance run before Garza delivered a two-run homerun dagger. Garza’s blast was the first of the tournament and put the score at 6-2.

Palmview combined for its six runs on nine hits. Leon, Garza, and Alex Bocanegra all collected a multi-hit game. Garza had 3 RBI.

The three Palmview pitchers, Quintanilla, Noah Cortez, and Bocanegra combined for 14 strikeouts.

Despite the loss, Mon Valley’s Camden Matsuik delivered a 9-strikeout performance.

Mon Valley’s offense was led by Schoch who collected an RBI in a 1-2 effort.

With the win, Palmview improves to 1-0 and will face off with Asia-Pacific Zone champion, Tainan City, Chinese Taipei, at 5:00pm/EST on Saturday, August 10. The loss drops Mon Valley to 0-1 as it will await the loser of Game 2 for a game played on Sunday, August 11 at 2:30pm/EST in the double-elimination loser’s bracket game.

Game 2 : Long Beach, CA 1, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico 12 (6 innings)

WASHINGTON, PA - In the nightcap of day one, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, took down Long Beach, California, by a score of 12-1.

Guaynabo wasted no time putting runs up on the board as they plated three in the top of the first. Dylan Padilla singled sharply into left field and an error allowed two runs to come home. Jehiel Hernandez tacked on with a sacrifice fly to bring Padilla home and make it 3-0 in favor of Guaynabo.

An uneventful second inning ensued next where both teams went hitless before Guaynabo tacked on five more runs, all with two outs, in the top of the third. Back-to-back singles by Abdamil Robles and Dyego Ramos led to two runs scoring before a Long Beach fielding and throwing error plated three more. 

Two straight innings without runners reaching base for either team happened in the fourth and fifth. A leadoff Derek Vazquez double started off the top of the sixth for Guaynabo before Padilla drove him in on a bomb to left field. This put the ten-run rule in effect. Guaynabo tacked on an eleventh and twelfth run after a Sebastian Quiles single brought home Adrian Asencio and a fielder’s choice groundout brought home another.

The twelve-run lead proved to be too much to overcome for Long Beach in the final half of the frame despite an attempt at a comeback. Nicholas Seib singled home the lone Long Beach run.

Guaynabo scored 12 runs on 8 hits. Padilla led the way with a three-RBI 2-for-4 effort. Its three pitchers struck out 12 batters and allowed only three hits and two walks. Gean Figueroa earned the win, striking out 7 of the 12. Carlos Arroyo closed out the game and delivered the win for Guaynabo, striking out both batters he faced.

The three Long Beach hits came from Seib, Alan Machado, and Ty Gallo.

Guaynabo improves to 1-0 with the win and will look ahead to its matchup against the Game 5 winner between Palmview, Texas, and Tainan City, Chinese Taipei, on Monday, August 12 at 4:30pm/EST. With the loss, Long Beach falls into the double elimination loser’s bracket and will face off against Mon Valley, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, August 11, at 2:30pm/EST.

Game 3 : Bay County, MI 0, Tijuana, Mexico 13 (5 innings)

Tijuana, Mexico, used a second-inning offensive explosion to take down Bay County, Michigan, 13-0 in the opening game of Day 2 of the Printscape PONY League World Series. 

An Alexander Jiminez sacrifice fly started off the action as Romeo Briones raced home to plate the first run for Tijuana. Another was tacked on after Oliver Gutierrez hit an RBI single. A couple of batters later, Eymos Bentancourt doubled off the wall to bring home a third Tijuana run before a Bryan Espinoza single followed by an error put the score at 5-0.

Bay County threatened in the bottom half of the second after back-to-back walks put runners on first and second, but Jiminez got Tijuana out of the inning unharmed.

Tijuana added insurance in the third on another Gutierrez single that put the score at 6-0.

Bay County once again threatened with runners on first and second following a leadoff Aaron Kain single and walk, but an impressively turned 4-6-3 double play got Tijuana out of the jam and kept Bay County off the board.

The bases were quickly loaded in the top of the fourth with no outs for Tijuana’s Romeo Briones and the first baseman capitalized with a monster grand slam. Carlos Pardo and Santiago Retamoza hit back-to-back doubles to put Tijuana up 12-0.

Briones once again went deep in the top of the fifth to put the icing on the cake and make it 13-0.

The Tijuana offense combined for 13 hits in the matchup. Briones led the way with a 3-for-3, two homerun, 5 RBI performance.

Tijuana’s pitching staff of Jiminez and Pardo combined for the shutout and allowed only two Bay County hits. The pair combined for 8 strikeouts.

With the win, Tijuana improves to 1-0 and will look ahead to its matchup against the winner of Game 6 between Washington County, Pennsylvania, and the winner of Game 4 between Bronx, NY, and Gijon, Spain. Tijuana’s game will take place on Monday, August 12 at 7:30pm/EST. The loss drops Bay County to 0-1 and it will face the loser of Game 4 at 5:00pm/EST on Sunday,

Game 4 : Gijon, Spain 0, Bronx, NY 11 (5 innings)

In both team’s first action of the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series, Bronx, NY, beat Gijon, Spain, 11-0.

The Bronx got some help in the top of the first on a couple of errors that plated two runs. A Misael Acosta single also brought home a run, making it 3-0.

Three more runs were tacked on by the Bronx in the top of the second. The scoring started on a Jeremias Perez double that scored Erick Nunez. The next batter, Fausto Dominguez singled home another run before Acosta doubled in the sixth total run.

The rout continued into the third as a Perez RBI single, and Dominguez RBI single plated the eighth and ninth run of the game. Gijon’s pitcher was removed from the game after an error brought home the tenth run of the matchup. A walk was issued to bring home yet another run with the bases loaded, but Alexandre Shelton got Gijon out of the jam and held the score at 11-0.

The run rule came into effect after the 5th inning.

Bronx starting pitcher, Jhanley Rodriguez, pitched a gem as he went two and two thirds innings, striking out six and allowing only two hits. He was relieved by Acosta, who finished the game without allowing a hit before Dominguez came in to close out the game, striking out 2 in one inning of work.

In total, the Bronx had 11 runs on 11 hits. Perez and Acosta both went 3-for-4. Dominguez had 4 RBI.

Gijon, Spain’s two hits came from Petr Dusek and Carlos Gonzalez De La Fuente. 

Bronx, NY, improves to 1-0 and will face host Washington County, PA, at 12:00pm/EST on Sunday, August 11. With the loss, Gijon falls to 0-1 and will play Bay County, MI, in an elimination matchup at 5:00pm/EST on Sunday, August 11.

Game 5 : Tainan City, Chinese Taipei 4, Palmview, TX 2


A thriller in the final game of Day 2 of the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series belongs to Tainan City, Chinese Taipei, over Palmview, TX, by a score of 4-2.

The scoring started in the bottom half of the first for Tainan City as a Wu Chieh-Jui single to right brought home Huang Zi-Hang. The next batter grounded out to the right side and brought home Lin Liang-Kai.

Axel Pulido responded for Palmview in the top of the fourth in a big way as he soared a 2-run home run over the left field fence. This knotted things at 2 through four.

A hit by pitch, error, and passed ball put runners on second and third with one out for Tainan City. A strikeout gave Palmview two outs but a passed ball on the following batter allowed Liang-Kai to score, making it 3-2 in favor of Tainan City. A wild pitch brought home the fourth Tainan City run in the contest.

Palmview threatened in the top of the 7th after two walks put runners on first and second but could not capitalize as the final score read, 4-2.

The four Tainan City pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts in the contest.

Both teams had 3 hits in the contest. Pulido had two RBI for Palmview.

Following the victory, Tainan City improves to 1-0 and will play Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, at 4:30pm/EST on Monday, August 12. The loss puts Palmview at 1-1 as it will face the winner of Game 7 between Mon Valley, PA, and Long Beach, CA, in an elimination matchup on Monday, August 12, at 10:00am/EST.

Game 6 : Bronx, NY 5, Washington County, PA 3

Day 3 of the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series kicked off with host, Washington County, PA, facing off with Bronx, NY. The Bronx defeated Washington County 5-3.

A walk followed by a Fausto Dominguez single set the table for the Bronx in the bottom of the first. Washington County centerfielder Owen Samogala saved his team from the threat by catching a lineout and firing the ball to third baseman Bryan Schmeltz for an inning-ending double play.

Washington County got on the board first in the top of the second after Landon Trnavsky scored on an error to make it 1-0.

The Bronx once again threatened with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the second. Angel Garcia capitalized on the opportunity, hitting a two-RBI double and making it 2-1 Bronx after two.

Misael Acosta hit a no-doubter solo homerun the following inning to extend the Bronx lead to 3-1.

More insurance was added in the bottom of the 5th after a Jeremias Perez leadoff double, Dominguez infield single, and Jeremy Puello sacrifice fly. An errant pickoff attempt caused the fifth Bronx run to cross home plate and put the score after five innings at 5-1.

Washington County mounted a comeback attempt in the top of the 7th after two errors plated a run and Coen Phasupong singled home Jackson Smith, but the attempt fell short as the final outs were recorded.

Michael Henriquez pitched a gem for the Bronx, going six and a third innings allowing only one unearned run on three hits. He fanned 4 batters. 

Washington County starter Logan DiSilvestro struck out 5 in the contest.

Of the 7 Bronx hits, Dominguez and Acosta led the way with two hits each. Erick Nunez had 2 RBI.

Landon Conn went 2-for-3 for Washington County.

With the win, the Bronx improves to 2-0 and will face Tijuana, Mexico, on Monday, August 12 at 7:30pm/EST. The loss drops Washington County to 0-1 as it will face off with the winner of Game 8 between Bay County, MI, and Gijon, Spain. Washington County’s game will take place on Monday, August 12 at 12:30pm/EST.

Game 7 : Long Beach, CA 4, Mon Valley, PA 7


The first elimination bracket game of the tournament belongs to Mon Valley, PA, over Long Beach, CA, by a score of 7-4 after a terrific comeback effort.

Long Beach threatened in the bottom of the first after an Ismael Santillan single and Alan Machado walk, but Mon Valley kept the threat at bay and escaped unscathed.

Long Beach got on the board in the bottom of the third after a hit by pitch and two walks with the bases loaded. Another walk later in the inning brought home the fourth Long Beach run to make it 4-0.

Mon Valley quickly responded to the threat with a Camden Matusik single and Kennedy Nash sacrifice fly to cut Long Beach’s lead in half, 4-2.

The Mon Valley squad once again threatened after two walks were issued with no outs in the top of the sixth. After runners advanced to second and third, Demaris Tolliver hit a base knock to put the score at 4-3. An RBI groundout a batter later knotted the game at 4-4. Mon Valley had the opportunity to take the lead with the go-ahead run on third, but a groundout kept the score intact.

A leadoff Jesse Sobczak single set the table for Mon Valley to take the lead in the top of the 7th. After stealing a second and third, Sobczak was put in position to score the potential winning run. Zachary Plymire wasted no time taking the lead after blasting a pitch out of left center field to score two runs. Crovak joined the homerun parade with a back-to-back blast of his own. This put Mon Valley up 7-4 heading into the game’s final half of the frame.

Plymire put forth a good effort for Mon Valley on the mound, going four and two thirds innings while allowing no runs on one hit. He fanned five batters.

Mon Valley’s AJ Watson put together a 2-for-4 performance while Plymire led the way with two RBI.

Long Beach starting pitcher Santillan went three innings without allowing a hit.

Mon Valley improves to 1-1 and will look ahead to its matchup against Palmview, TX, at 10:00am/EST on Monday, August 12. With the loss, Long Beach drops to 0-2 and is eliminated from title contention.

Game 8 : Bay County, MI 5, Gijon, Spain 3

An elimination matchup between Bay County, MI, and Gijon, Spain, went to Bay County. The final score was 5-3.

The Bay County bats came alive in the bottom of the second. Brenner Gansser singled home the first run of the game and Aaron Kain followed it up with a single scoring two runs to make it 3-0 Bay County.

The second ever female player in the World Series, and first international female player, Lila D Hauteville singled and stole a base to start off the third inning. This was the first base hit and first stolen base by a female in World Series history. Sengly Tran Seng then singled and stole second base to put runners on second and third with no outs. However, Gansser squeaked out of the jam and kept Gijon off the scoreboard.

A walk and hit-by-pitch opened the door once again for Gijon. This time, Alex Morales made sure to capitalize on the scoring opportunity with a three-run homerun to tie the ballgame at 3-3.

Bay County responded quickly via a leadoff Hugh Ruff double followed by a Mason Krager walk. Chase Hockman singled sharply into left to load the bases for Bay County with no outs. Brody Kuhn responded by singling up the middle and bringing home two runs. A double play and phenomenal defensive stop and throw by Hugo Diaz got Gijon out of the inning, but the damage was done as Bay County retook the lead, 5-3.

The two run deficit was too much for Gijon to come back from, despite opportunities in the final innings.

Bay County hitters tallied 10 hits in the matchup. Kuhn went a perfect 3-for-3 and added two RBI for Bay County.

The win improves Bay County to 1-1 as it will survive and advance to face Washington County, PA, in another elimination matchup on Monday, August 12 at 12:30pm/EST. With the loss, Gijon falls to 0-2 and is eliminated from title contention.

Game 9 : Palmview, TX 11, Mon Valley, PA 4

Day 4 of the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series began with an elimination game that saw Palmview, TX, playing host to Mon Valley, PA. The win went to Palmview, TX, by a score of 11-4.

Palmview got on the board first as Alejandro Leon singled to left, scoring Gael Zambrano. Its lead was short-lived, however, as Mon Valley’s Kennedy Nash singled home a run as well, knotting the game at 1-1.

Palmview put three more runs on the board in the bottom of the second after Mon Valley mistakes put runners on base. A wild pitch plated Omar Cantu and immediately after, Edgar Quintanilla doubled home Joaquin Barrientos. Zambrano singled home another to make the score 4-1.

A Palmview error sent Cameron Black home for Mon Valley, cutting the score in half at 4-2.

Another Palmview run was tacked on in the bottom of the third after an Axel Pulido sacrifice fly. Zambrano got on base yet again with an RBI double in the fourth. Alex Bocanegra raced home in the bottom of the fifth after a groundout to put the score at 7-2.

The game was put out of reach in the bottom of the sixth after Palmview put four more runs on the board. Leon doubled home Quintanilla, Javier Garza singled home Zambrano and Leon, and an Isaiah Olivares sacrifice fly plated Garza.

Mon Valley mounted a comeback attempt in the top of the seventh when Demaris Tolliver singled in two runs. This effort was thwarted by Palmview’s Barrientos and the final score stood at 11-4.

Zambrano went a perfect 4-for-4 for Palmview with two RBI and two runs scored.

Mon Valley’s Nash went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.

With the win, Palmview improves to 2-1 and will play the loser of Chinese Taipei vs Guaynabo, PR, on August 13 at 10am/EST. For Mon Valley, its record drops to 1-2 and is eliminated from this year’s World Series.

Game 10 : Washington County, PA 7, Bay County, MI 0

Day 4 elimination games continued with Washington County, PA, and Bay County, MI. The win went to the host team, Washington County, PA, 7-0. 

The scoring started in the bottom of the third with two runners on when Owen Semogala doubled to score Garrett Stoy and Jorden Moore. 

Continuing the scoring in the fifth, Bryan Schmeltz tripled to center to score Coen Phasupong. The bat was passed to Semogala again, who doubled to centerfield scoring Schmeltz on the play making the lead 4-0. The final blow of the fifth came off the bat of Macksim Nonack who singled to score Semogala, giving the host squad a 5-0 lead going into the 6th.

In the final appearance for the Washington bats, Tim Crayton singles to left to score Landon Conn. Shortly after the Crayton single, Garrett Stoy triples to right to score Easton Dulaney.

Bay County was held to only 5 hits in the game coming from Hugh Ruff, Mason Krager, Alex Davenport, Kyle Howard Jr, and Tyson Cwiklinski.

The loss goes to Kyle Howard Jr who threw 5 and one-third innings allowing six runs and eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Alex Davenport came in relief for two-thirds of an inning, giving up one run on two hits.

The winning pitcher for Washington County, William Flaherty, goes 6 shutout innings collecting 7 strikeouts without surrendering a walk. Tristin Coney threw one inning of relief, striking out two with one hit. 

The win improves Washington County’s record to 1-1 and will play the loser of Game 12 on August 13, at 12:30pm/EST. With the loss, Bay County drops to 1-2 and is eliminated from contention. 

Game 11 : Tainan City, Chinese Taipei 0, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico 1

The third game of the quadruple header featured Chinese Taipei and Guynabo, PR. The win went to Guaynabo, PR, 1-0 after an impressive outing on the mound by Sebastian Quiles.

The only score of the game came in the top of the fourth. After a double by the starting pitcher, Sebastian Quiles, Abdamil Robles hit a hard ground ball single to left which allowed courtesy runner Kenniel Nieves to score the sole run of the game. 

The right-handed Quiles threw a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and only allowed two hits and two walks. Out of the 25 batters faced, only 3 of them came with a runner in scoring position.

The two hits from Chinese Taipei came from Chin Wei-Hsiang, a double in the fifth, and Chen Ching Jung, a single in the second inning. Chinese Taipei used six pitchers in the game, but the loss went to Wei-Chun. 

This is the first game of this year’s World Series to end with less than 7 runs scored. It is also the first game to end 1-0 since Palmview, TX beat Washington County in the second round of the 2022 PLWS. 

The Puerto Rico win moves the squad to 2-0 in the PLWS as it will face the winner of the aforementioned game on August 13, at 4:30pm/EST. With the loss, Chinese Taipei moves to 1-1 and will face Palmview, TX in an elimination game on August 13, at 10:00am/EST. 

Game 12 : Bronx, NY 2, Tijuana, Mexico 16

The final game of Day 4 was a back-and-forth thriller between Bronx, NY, and Tijuana, Mexico. In the end, Tijuana, Mexico, broke open the scoring and prevailed 16-2.

The Bronx struck first after a Jeremy Puello double scored Fausto Dominguez.

Tijuana responded right back in the top of the second with a Moyses Salido single and Bryan Espinoza single bringing home two runs, making it 2-1 Tijuana.

Dominguez hit a sacrifice fly, plating Angel Garcia to knot things up at 2-2.

Tijuana put on a firework display in the top of the fourth and put the game out of reach for the Bronx. An Espinoza single followed by a Carlos Pardo single brought home a runner each. Xavier Beltran then doubled in two more before Romeo Briones hit a two-run bomb. Alexander Jiminez joined the hit parade with an RBI single and Espinoza hit an RBI single as well. A hit-by-pitch and two walks brought home three more runs, putting the game at 14-2.

The icing on the cake was a Salido RBI single and Pardo RBI single putting the game at 16-2.

Salido had a tremendous outing for Tijuana, going all five innings while striking out 12 and allowing just one earned run on two hits.

Espinoza went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Tijuana. The two Bronx hits came from Garcia and Puello.

The win puts Tijuana at 2-0 as it will advance to the semifinals and face the winner of Bronx, NY, and Washington County, PA on August 13 at 7:30pm/EST. The winner of that game will have to defeat Tijuana twice to advance to the championship match. The loss drops the Bronx to 2-1 as it will face Washington County in an elimination game at 12:30pm/EST.

Game 13 : Tainan City, Chinese Taipei 4, Palmview,TX 3

In a nail-biting contest to start Day 5, Tainan City, Chinese Taipei, edged out Palmview, TX, in a dramatic 4-3 victory that required extra innings to decide the winner.

The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when Palmview struck first. A double by Ramiro Alejandro Leon brought home Gael Zambrano, giving Palmview a 1-0 lead.

Tainan City responded in the sixth inning when Chin Wei-Hsiang doubled to drive in a run, tying the game at 1-1. The Taiwanese team then took the lead in the seventh inning after Huang Zi-Hang scored on a fielder's choice, followed by a single from Wei-Hsiang that brought home another run, making it 3-1.

However, Palmview wasn't done. In the bottom of the seventh, they closed the gap to 3-2 with an RBI single from Edgar Quintanilla. Then, in the sixth inning, Isaiah Olivares tied the game with a clutch hit, sending it to extra innings.

In the top of the ninth, Tainan City pulled ahead again, with Zi-Hang crossing the plate after a walk and a series of Palmview errors, securing the 4-3 victory. 

On the mound, Wu Chieh-Jui earned the win for Tainan City with a strong performance, striking out 10 over 4.2 innings, while Noah Cortez of Palmview was solid in defeat, allowing just one earned run in five innings with seven strikeouts.

The win propels Tainan City to 2-1 in the tournament as it advances to face Washington County later in the day. The loss drops Palmview to 2-2 as it is eliminated from title contention.

Game 14 : Washington County, PA 19, Bronx, NY 9 (5 innings)

In a high-scoring affair, Washington County, PA, dominated Bronx, NY, with a resounding 19-9 victory that saw an explosion of runs in the first two innings.

Washington County came out swinging, putting up eight runs in the first inning and four more in the second to take a commanding 12-0 lead. 

The Bronx, however, did not go quietly, responding with a five-run third inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Fausto Dominguez, closing the gap to 12-5.

Despite Bronx's efforts, Washington County continued their offensive onslaught, adding five more runs in the third and two in the fourth to extend their lead to 19-7. Bronx managed two more runs in the fifth, but it was too little too late, as the game ended after five innings due to the mercy rule.

On the mound, Owen Samogala earned the win for Washington County, pitching three innings, allowing five earned runs, and striking out five. Bronx's pitchers struggled against Washington County's hot bats, with Jhanley Rodriguez taking the loss after giving up five runs in the first inning.

Washington County's Bryan Schmeltz led the charge with two home runs and three RBIs, while Bronx's Dominguez and Angel Garcia each had multi-RBI games. 

The win keeps Washington County alive in the tournament, improving its record to 2-1. The host squad will take on Tijuana, Mexico, later today in Game 16. With the loss, Bronx, NY, is eliminated from title contention.

Game 15 : Tainan City, Chinese Taipei 3, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico 10

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, cruised to a decisive 10-3 victory over Tainan City, Chinese Taipei, fueled by a massive nine-run third inning.

The game remained scoreless through the first two innings before Guaynabo erupted in the third. Carlos Arroyo led the charge with three hits, including a double, contributing to the nine-run outburst. Dylan Padilla added two hits and two RBIs, while Joniel Miranda chipped in with two hits and an RBI.

Tainan City tried to claw back with single runs in the third, fourth, and seventh innings, but they couldn’t overcome the deficit. Despite their efforts, they managed only four hits, with Chen Ching-Jung and Chen Po-An driving in the team's two RBIs.

On the mound, Miranda dominated for Guaynabo, pitching six strong innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out seven. Dereck Garcia closed the game, allowing one run on one hit in the final inning.

Tainan City’s pitching struggled to contain Guaynabo’s offense, with starter Chen Wei-Hsiang taking the loss after giving up ten runs (three earned) on nine hits over five innings.

Game 16 : Washington County, PA 8, Tijuana, Mexico 10 (8 innings)

In the final game of Day 5, Tijuana, Mexico, edged out Washington County, PA, with a 10-8 victory in a game filled with late-inning drama.

Tijuana, Mexico, jumped out to a steady start, scoring in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings to build a 5-0 lead. Washington County, PA remained scoreless through the first four innings but came alive in the 5th with a four-run rally, narrowing the gap to 5-4. The 6th inning saw Washington County put up another four runs, overtaking Tijuana and bringing the score to 8-6.

However, Tijuana responded swiftly, with two runs in both the 7th and 8th innings to reclaim the lead. Their pitching staff managed to hold Washington County scoreless in the final two innings, sealing the 10-8 victory.

Key contributors for Tijuana included Alexander Jimenez, who went 3-for-6 with two RBIs, and Emiliano Contreras, who added three hits and an RBI. On the mound, Axel Briones started strong with four scoreless innings, while Eymos Bentancourt earned the win with a clutch 2.1 innings of relief, allowing just one hit and no earned runs.

For Washington County, Bryan Schmeltz was the standout with a 2-for-5 performance, including a home run and four RBIs. Despite their efforts, Washington's pitching struggled to contain Tijuana’s offense, with Landon Crowe taking the loss after giving up five runs (three earned) over 3.1 innings.

The win puts Tijuana into the championship game. It will face Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The game will take place at 7:30pm/EST tomorrow, August 14. With the loss, Washington County is eliminated from title contention.

Championship : Guaynabo, Puerto Rico 2, Tijuana, Mexico 1

The championship matchup saw two undefeated squads face off, with Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and Tijuana, Mexico. After a thrilling game, Guaynabo took down Tijuana 2-1.

Scoreless frames for both teams ensued in the first few innings, with two hits happening in the first 3 ½ innings, a Carlos Arroyo double and Bryan Espinoza.

A Dariel Carrion home run to center put Guaynabo on top 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Tijuana quickly responded with a Marlon Melendrez Jr. bomb of his own to knot the game up, 1-1.

In the top of the sixth, a leadoff Tijuana double was erased after the runner stepped off base celebrating and was tagged by the Guaynabo second baseman. Emiliano Contreras doubled immediately after the blunder. Alexander Jiminez singled sharply but Contreras was caught before he reached home after a frozen rope was thrown by Dylan Padilla.

Xavier Beltran doubled to center with one out for Tijuana, but he failed to reach home in the top of the 8th.

In the bottom of the 9th Guaynabo, Puerto Rico’s Carrion doubled with one out to put a runner in scoring position. Jehiel Hernandez delivered the dagger with a walkoff single scoring Carrion.

Guaynabo allowed 6 hits while Tijuana allowed 5. teams. Tijuana had a combined 14 strikeouts with pitchers Jiminez, Beltran, and Pardo. Guaynabo’s pitchers Gean Figueroa and Akillis Rivera allowed just one run on six hits.

Tijuana finishes as the runner-up in the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series.

With the win, Guaynabo finishes the tournament undefeated and is crowned the 2024 Printscape PONY League World Series Champion.
