WASHINGTON, PA (August 2026) — Taichung City, Chinese Taipei, has won PONY Baseball’s Asia-Pacific Zone to qualify for the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. This year’s squad returns for its eighth all-time appearance in the PLWS and will look to defend its championship after capturing the title in 2025.



Taichung has once again proven to be a dominant force, turning in an impressive performance in the Asia-Pacific Zone Tournament. The team opened with decisive wins over Indonesia Gorgeous (10–0) and China (18–0), followed by a hard-fought 5–4 victory over Japan. They continued their strong play with a 15–1 win against the Indonesia Cheetahs and capped off the tournament with a 2–0 victory over Japan to secure the championship.

After another commanding tournament run, Taichung points to its discipline and well-rounded execution as key strengths. “Our core strengths lie in our excellent pitching stability, precise execution of batting and tactical plays, aggressive baserunning, strong defensive chemistry, and sharp focus,” said manager Wen Chueh Lan. 

Traveling approximately 7,890 miles to Washington, PA, Taichung is focused on continuing its success on the world stage while embracing the opportunity to compete once again. “Having claimed the Pony League World Series championship last year, our goal this year is to defend our title,” Lan said.

Taichung will look to build on its strong history in the tournament and make another championship run in the 2026 Printscape PONY League World Series. “We look forward to delivering our absolute best performance in every single game, ultimately capturing the world championship once again,” Lan stated.

Taichung will open play against the winner of the Navojoa, Mexico vs. Host-Area Champion game at 12:00 PM/ET on Sunday, August 9, at Historic Lew Hays PONY Field in Washington, PA.
